The More Than Food Program is a team of student volunteers who share a passion for sustainability and wellness, and are committed to creating positive behaviour change on campus. The More Than Food Program provides a platform for students to apply their skills and creativity to foster engagement in sustainability and wellness initiatives led by McMaster Hospitality Services.
- Promote Hospitality Services sustainability and wellness initiatives through pop-up events
- Support the Choose to Reuse program and Reuse Pass
- Share strategies for efficient use of self-sort waste streams on campus
- Use peer to peer learning and education strategies to engage the student body
- Gather feedback from the campus community
- Inspire positive behaviour change among students on campus, rooted in best practices for a healthy and sustainable food system
- Increase use of the Reuse Pass program at participating locations
- Strengthen relationship between Hospitality Services and McMaster student community
- Champion students to become global stewards of their campus and communities
Position Summary:
More Than Food Peers work as a team to increase awareness and engagement in Hospitality Services’ sustainability and wellness initiatives through peer to peer learning.
Volunteer Position Details:
Date: September 2nd 2025 – April 30th 2026 (8 month term)
Hours/week: 5 hours (this includes a weekly meeting with the More than Food Program Advisor)
Compensation: $200 stipend per term
Positions available: Volunteer Positions available: 5
Accountabilities:
- Attend weekly team meetings with More Than Food Program Advisor
- Attend at least 75% of the weekly meetings per term
- Create and organize group documents on OneDrive/Teams
- Collaborate with other More Than Food Peers to plan, promote, set-up and facilitate pop-up events on campus during each term
- Attend at least 75% of the pop-up events per term
- Gather and organize feedback from the campus community to evaluate current Hospitality Services sustainability and wellness initiatives
- Create engaging social media content to achieve program goals
