INTRODUCTION

Helping to keep MAC green

As part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impacts, McMaster University Hospitality Services has introduced an Eco-Takeout Container Program. It is available at East Meets West Bistro, Bridges and CENTRO@Commons. Anyone who lives, works or eats on campus can participate in the Program.

Join the Program, buy a one-time non-refundable Membership for only $5 from a cashier at any of the participating locations. There will be no expiry date or annual renewal of the Membership, however, if a Membership card or a container is lost, a new one is required. This is a non-profit program and the membership fee covers the actual cost of the container.

  • Request your meal to be served in a re-usable Eco-Takeout Container.
  • When you get to the cash register, pay $5 for a one-time, non-refundable Program Membership
  • Next time you come back, bring your empty container and request your meal to be served in a new, clean Eco-Takout Container. Your meal will be served in a new, clean Eco-Takeout Container.
  • When you get to the cash register, return the used Eco-Takeout Container to the cashier and you will not be charged for the new Eco-Takeout Container.
  • You can return your used Eco-Takout Container at any time, even if you are not purchasing another meal. Simply return it to a cashier and you will receive an Eco-Container card to present next time you purchase a meal in an Eco-Takeout Container.

Eco-Takeout Containers are reusable, recyclable, made of durable polypropylene (BPA free), break-resistant, commercial dishwasher safe, microwave safe and have antimicrobial protection to inhibit growth of stains and odours causing bacteria.
